8th Annual Gala & Season Reveal
honoring
Michael T. Brown
You need only work once with Mickey Brown to know he's a special and rare person. Whether on stage or on the design team, Mickey brings his whole heart and the whole of his incredible talent to any and every aspect of a production.
Appearing first on Star of the Day's stage in Man of La Mancha, Mickey has provided paternal gravitas in roles in Romeo & Juliet, and displayed an unusual "honor among thieves" in both La Mancha and Newsies. That sense of honor carries through in his mentorship: he has worked alongside students in our Summer Spotlight Academy since 2021, teaching them the basics of design and overseeing their work as they apply that theory to build the same sets they use for the final camp show. His artistic vision and implementation are integral to the company's continuously surprising and engaging audiences with what we can do in a black box theater space.
His creativity is outweighed only by his sense of dedication and community: Mickey has pulled double-duty as a set designer and builder while also featuring in shows such as Newsies. And regardless of the countless hours and late nights he's put in, you can always count on Mickey to crack a well-timed joke, most especially when he knows you need to smile.
Humor, heart, and hard work: Mickey makes any and all of these look easy.
