Star of the Day is thrilled to announce Poppy & the Magic Tutu, an original musical written and composed by local playwright Kirsten Almeida. The magical, family-friendly production will run for one weekend from June 5th through June 7th, 2026, at Between the Lines Studio Theatre, 725 N. 15th Street, Allentown, PA.
Poppy & the Magic Tutu follows the adventures of circus star Poppy, the ballet dancing hippopotamus, who, with the help of her friends, helps save the circus. Blending catchy, upbeat Broadway-style tunes with themes of imagination, teamwork, and facing your fears, the all-ages musical is designed specifically to captivate both young children and their families. “We wanted to create a production that speaks directly to the vibrant imaginations of children while also delivering a heartwarming message that resonates with parents,” said Kirsten Almeida, the show’s director. “The music is incredibly catchy, and we cannot wait to share these original songs with the Lehigh Valley community.” Performance Details: Dates: June 5th at 7pm, June 6th at 12pm, 3pm, 7pm, June 7th at 1pm and 3pm. The Last 30 Years
The Music of Jason Robert Brown Announcement! Star of the Day will no longer be producing Songs For A New World We are excited to bring to you "The Last 30 Years: The Music of Jason Robert Brown" as the 2nd installment of our Spotlight Cabaret Theatre Series in Allentown. Auditions will still take place next Wednesday & Thursday, 6:30-9:30PM at Between the Lines Studio Theatre. Nathan Chipman and Mel Nichols are still Director and Musical Director. Auditions are open to all ages. Prepare a 1 minute contemporary musical theatre or Jason Robert Brown song. Bring sheet music in your key and in a binder. No loose leaf paper please. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella. Performances will still take place July 17-19, 2026 at Between the Lines. We are excited for this pivot. It will open up opportunities so more vocalists can be involved and work with this stellar creative team. It will also allow us to continue to feature JRB's best music from not only Songs For A New World but also 13, The Last Five Years, Parade, The Bridges of Madison County, and more. Please join us.
