Star of the Day announces auditions for the first show in its 5th Anniversary Season - GODSPELL
Godspell is a musical composed by Stephen Schwartz with the book by John-Michael Tebelak. The musical is structured as a series of parables, primarily based on the Gospel of Matthew. However, four of the featured parables are only recorded in the Gospel of Luke, and the narrative of the woman taken in adultery is only in the Gospel of John. The parables are interspersed with music set primarily to lyrics from traditional hymns, with the passion of Christ appearing briefly near the end of the show.
Star of the Day Event Productions is seeking a diverse cast of performers, ages 18-40, for a contemporary production of Godspell. Strong vocal ability is a plus, as well as the ability to read music and harmonize. Ability to play a musical instrument and other special skills may also be considered. Those auditioning should prepare 16-32 bars of a song in the style or spirit of Godspell. It does not have to be from the show, nor does it have to be musical theatre. The song selection should be an honest and authentic representation of you as a person and performer. No a capella selections or backing tracks are permitted. An accompanist will be provided, so please bring sheet music. Auditions will be held February 18th and 20th, from 7-9:30pm, with a potential callback on February 21st from 7-9:30pm.
Performances are April 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, and 13, 2019. All auditions and performances will be held at St. John’s UCC – 139 N. 4th Street, Emmaus, PA 18049.
