AUDITIONS
JUNE 18 & 19, 2025

WHAT: 

"Oliver!" is a stage musical by Lionel Bart, based on Charles Dickens’ novel Oliver Twist. It follows the journey of Oliver Twist, a young orphan in Victorian England, as he struggles to find a home, family, and love.



AUDITION DATES: Wednesday, June 18, 2025 6:30-9PM and Thursday, June 19, 2025 6:30-9PM

Ages 10 +

NOTE: You only need to come to one night. The director may ask you to stay to read from the script.

PERFORMANCES:
September 19-28, 2025

Oliver will be performed in the round with a live band.


CHARACTER BREAKDOWN




Oliver Twist (M/F, Ages 10-12), Range: A3 – D5
A light, clear boy’s voice; requires strong acting and singing with emotional depth. A kind-hearted and innocent orphan boy who is searching for love and a family.
Fagin (M/F, Ages 30+) Range: C3 – F4
A conniving but somewhat comedic leader of a gang of child thieves; he trains the boys to pick pockets.
The Artful Dodger  (M/F, Ages 11-15) Range: A3 – F5
A clever and street-smart boy, Dodger is Fagin’s top pickpocket and becomes Oliver’s first friend in London.
Nancy (F, Ages 20+) Range: G3 – B♭5
A tough but compassionate young woman associated with Fagin's gang. She loves Bill Sikes but also cares deeply for Oliver.
Bill Sikes (M, Ages 20+) Range: A2 – E4
A brutal, violent criminal and Nancy’s abusive partner. He fears Oliver might expose his crimes.
Mr. Bumble (M, Ages 30+) Range: D3 – F4
The pompous beadle of the workhouse where Oliver grows up. He’s more concerned with rules than compassion.
Widow Corney (F, Ages 30+) Range: G3 – F5
Matron of the workhouse who marries Mr. Bumble. She is greedy and unsympathetic.
Mr. Brownlow (M, Ages  20+) Range: B2 – E4
A wealthy and kind-hearted gentleman who takes Oliver in and ultimately adopts him.
Bet  (F,Ages 14-18) Range: F4 – B♭5
Nancy’s younger friend and a minor member of Fagin’s gang, loyal to Nancy.
Mr. Sowerberry (M, Ages 20+) Range: C3 – E♭4
The undertaker who briefly employs Oliver after he’s sold by the workhouse.
Mrs. Sowerberry (F, Ages 20+) Range: C4 – E5
The undertaker’s cruel wife.
Noah Claypole (M, Ages 14-18)
A bullying apprentice at the undertaker’s shop who torments Oliver.
Charlotte (F, Ages 14-18)
The Sowerberrys’ maid and Noah’s love interest.
Charlie Bates (M/F, Ages 12-15)
Another of Fagin’s pickpockets; often seen alongside the Dodger.
Workhouse Children and Fagin’s Gang (M/F, Ages 10-15) Typically range from A3 to E5 depending on part.
Ensemble roles that help set the tone and environment, including singing in group numbers like "Food, Glorious Food" and "Consider Yourself."
Adult Ensemble (M/F, Ages 16+) There are many featured roles in the Adult Ensemble with opportunities for singing solos and lines as well as featured dancing.
Please download, print, complete, and return audition form below when you arrive at the audition.
Please be sure to circle all possible conflicts. We cannot accept added conflicts once the show is cast. Accurate and honest conflicts will help us finalize the rehearsal schedule. Please note, we make every attempt to call only those needed at rehearsal as to not waste anyone's time.

DANCE AUDITION WILL BE POSTED SOON

All children under 15 must audition with one of the above songs.

Adult Auditions (Ages 16+)
Please prepare 16-20 bars of a golden age musical song. Everyone MUST have sheet music in the correct key. Please no Sondheim. Music must be in a 3 ring binder. There will be an accompanist provided.
No A capella. Songs should be memorized so the directors can watch you, your character choices, and vocal ability.

OLIVER DANCE AUDITION
Please bring proper shoes and clothing to change in to for the dance audition. Jazz shoes or sneakers are fine for the audition. Absolutely no open toe shoes, high heels, crocs, sandals, etc. This is for your safety.
